A young lizardfolk scribe holding stacks of scrolls and books, wearing round spectacles.

Appearance.

Kesh is a slender young lizardfolk with smooth pale-green scales and large amber eyes that rarely blink. They wear layered scholarly robes tied neatly at the waist, always carrying scrolls and books with careful precision. Their posture is impeccably straight, giving them a composed, almost statuesque quality.

Personality.

Kesh speaks in slow, thoughtful sentences, often pausing to choose the exact word they want. They are courteous and genuinely curious, though their literal way of thinking can lead to unintentionally humorous misunderstandings. They enjoy the structure and predictability of written knowledge, finding comfort in organization.

Backstory.

Raised in a communal hatchery near a small library outpost, Kesh gravitated toward record-keeping at a young age. They eventually took a scribe position in a bigger city where they spend most days cataloging and copying documents.

Motivations.

Kesh wants to preserve stories and knowledge so they are never lost, especially mundane accounts that others overlook. They also hope to improve their understanding of emotional nuance among other humanoid cultures.

Flaws.

They can be overly literal and sometimes unintentionally blunt, especially when summarizing emotional events. Kesh also has difficulty improvising and becomes anxious when plans change without warning.

Secrets.

Kesh practices writing compliments in a private notebook because they worry they’re not good at expressing them naturally. They never speak in Dwarvish around actual dwarves, thinking their pronunciation gives them a lisp in that language.
